Parking Near Glendale
Free 90-minute parking at Glendale’s downtown structures
Glendale’s Exchange, Marketplace, and Orange Street parking structures are the city’s clearest general free-parking choices downtown, with the first 90 minutes free at each facility (City of Glendale). The Exchange is at 115 North Artsakh Avenue, the Marketplace is at 120 South Artsakh Avenue, and Orange Street is at 222 North Orange Street.
The free period suits short visits to downtown shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues, while the three structures together provide approximately 2,400 public spaces. Downtown Glendale’s on-street meters are not free during their stated operating periods: all downtown streets except Brand Boulevard charge $2.50 an hour from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday, while Brand Boulevard charges $4 an hour from 8 a.m. to midnight seven days a week (City of Glendale).
Glendale downtown garages fill fastest on shopping and entertainment days
Glendale’s Exchange, Marketplace, and Orange Street structures are the practical first stop when free parking is available, but their central locations make the 90-minute spaces especially useful for short shopping, dining, and entertainment visits rather than all-day parking.
For a longer stay close to downtown, a weekly Parksy space in Glendale is listed at $53 a week and 124 yards away. Monthly garage options listed nearby include $101 a month at 0.5 miles and $230 a month at 0.5 miles, giving commuters a predictable alternative when short-stay spaces are full.
Glendale’s free garage time limit ends after 90 minutes
Glendale’s Exchange, Marketplace, and Orange Street structures keep the first 90 minutes free, then apply the posted hourly rate; the free period is therefore a short-stay allowance, not unrestricted all-day parking (City of Glendale). The three structures operate around the clock, so their 24-hour opening does not extend the free parking period.
Glendale’s downtown street meters apply different schedules by location. All downtown streets except Brand Boulevard operate from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday, while Brand Boulevard operates from 8 a.m. to midnight seven days a week (City of Glendale). Glendale Community College prohibits overnight parking from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. without prior approval from College Police, so the college site is not a general overnight free-parking option (Glendale Community College).
Glendale citation challenges follow a defined city process
Glendale handles parking-citation contests under California Vehicle Code procedures. A driver must request an administrative review within 21 calendar days of the citation date, or within 14 calendar days after a Notice of Parking Violation is mailed (City of Glendale). The city provides an online route for submitting that first review.
If Glendale upholds the citation at administrative review, the driver may request an administrative hearing within 21 calendar days after the review decision is mailed, and state law generally requires payment of the amount owed when moving to that stage. If the hearing upholds the citation, an appeal may be filed with Los Angeles Superior Court within 30 calendar days; the court filing fee is $25, and the city states that the fee and parking fine are refunded if the judge dismisses the citation (City of Glendale).
