Parking Near Ontario
Free Pickup Parking at Ontario International Airport
Ontario International Airport’s Cellphone Lot is the clearest free parking option for drivers meeting arriving passengers. Ontario International Airport says overnight and extended parking are not allowed in the Cellphone Lot (flyontario.com).
The Cellphone Lot works best when the arriving traveler can call after landing, because the driver can wait without entering a paid terminal lot. Ontario International Airport does not offer free general parking, so the Cellphone Lot should not be treated as a free place to leave a vehicle during a flight. Drivers using Ontario streets for oversized vehicles also need a different arrangement: the City of Ontario requires a displayed permit for an oversized vehicle parked on a public street, and the vehicle must be in front of the residence it belongs to (ontarioca.gov).

For shorter stays, Parksy lists a secure 24/7 parking lot in Ontario, California, 2.0 miles away for $180 a day, and a secure 24/7 parking lot in Ontario, California, 2.0 miles away for $144 a week. A convenient 24/7 parking lot with electric charging is also 2.0 miles away and costs $11 an hour. These spaces are paid alternatives for drivers who need dependable off-street parking after the free airport pickup capacity is unavailable or unsuitable.
Ontario Permit and Oversized-Vehicle Rules That Affect Free Street Parking
The City of Ontario’s oversized-vehicle ordinance applies to public-street parking, even when a curb space has no meter. Beginning July 1, 2023, a permit must be displayed for an oversized vehicle on a public street. The City defines an oversized vehicle as one exceeding 20 feet in length, 80 inches in width, or 78 inches in height, or weighing more than 6,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (ontarioca.gov).
The permit does not make unrestricted street parking available everywhere. The City of Ontario requires the oversized vehicle to be parked in front of the residence it belongs to, and the vehicle cannot be a public safety hazard. That rule is especially relevant to RVs and other large vehicles that might otherwise appear to have a free residential curb option. The City’s ordinance therefore separates ordinary vehicle parking from oversized-vehicle parking: a driver of a qualifying RV or large vehicle needs the displayed permit and the required residential location before relying on a public street.
Ontario Airport Demand and the Cheapest Named Parking Alternatives
Ontario International Airport’s Cellphone Lot is intended for pickup waiting, with 35 spaces plus three ADA spaces, so demand can be tight when several flights arrive close together. The airport specifically prohibits overnight and extended parking there, making the free area unsuitable for leaving a car while traveling. Ontario International Airport lists no free general parking beyond that pickup facility (flyontario.com).
A secure 24/7 Parksy lot 2.0 miles away is listed at $144 a week, while a separate secure 24/7 lot 2.0 miles away is listed at $180 a day.
