Parking Near Potrero Hill
Free curb parking around De Haro Street and Potrero Hill
SpotAngels lists free parking for up to five days at 717 De Haro Street in Potrero Hill, making the location the clearest named no-charge option for a longer visit (spotangels.com).
Street parking is also available in Potrero Hill, but the neighborhood includes different restrictions by street and zone. Xtreet describes standard street-cleaning enforcement hours as 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, while SFMTA identifies separate controls on Potrero Hill, Vermont Street, 18th Street, and Pennsylvania Avenue. A curb space is therefore free only when its posted restriction allows parking without payment or a permit.
Potrero Hill time limits, permits, and enforcement hours
SFMTA’s Northern Potrero Hill program lists a four-hour time limit from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on one set of neighborhood streets and two-hour parking from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm on another set of streets (sfmta.com). The authority names Potrero Hill, Vermont Street, 18th Street, and Pennsylvania Avenue in connection with the parking-management area, so drivers must match the limit to the signed street rather than apply one rule across the neighborhood.
Parking during those hours can remain subject to cleaning restrictions even when a curb space carries no meter charge. A resident-permit restriction also does not create general free parking, because the space is free only for drivers holding the required neighborhood permit.
Parksy parking near Potrero Hill for full curbs
Parksy lists valet parking at 311 Kansas Street, 0.5 miles from Potrero Hill, at $26.50 a day. The valet format suits drivers who need a nearby paid space when curb parking is occupied and who prefer daily access over a monthly commitment.
Parksy also lists secure 24/7 covered parking 0.6 miles away for $275 a month. Drivers needing regular overnight or long-term parking can choose that covered monthly option instead of repeatedly searching Potrero Hill streets. At 0.7 miles, the KQED HQ Garage costs $12.50 a day, while a Henry Adams Street lot costs $350 a month. The daily garage fits short visits, and the monthly lot suits a longer stay.
Cheaper named choices when Potrero Hill parking fills
Potrero Hill parking demand is especially difficult when neighborhood activity increases, and Potrero Hill had the highest residential-overtime ticket rate per capita in San Francisco in 2025, at about 56 tickets per 100 residents (sfchronicle.com). That figure makes a legal paid alternative useful when free curb spaces are full, particularly for drivers leaving a car for several hours.
Parksy lists the KQED HQ Garage in San Francisco at $12.50 a day and 0.7 miles from Potrero Hill. No named park-and-ride rate is provided for Potrero Hill, so these are the specifically priced alternatives available for comparison.
Potrero Hill parking tickets and how enforcement affects cost
San Francisco parking citations can become expensive when a driver exceeds a residential time limit or violates street-cleaning restrictions. The figure reflects enforcement activity rather than a free-parking allowance, so overstaying a signed curb limit remains a ticket risk.
Potrero View reports that citations of $150 or less must be serviced within six weeks of the ticket and carry a $25 minimum payment; citations from $151 to $300 follow a different payment range (potreroview.net). Drivers can use the city’s citation process to pay or challenge a ticket, while the reported payment deadlines apply to the citation category rather than to every Potrero Hill parking violation.
