Eugene Time Limits, Permits, and the Two-Block Parking Rule
Eugene’s posted time-limited areas use a two-block rule: once a vehicle reaches the time limit, the driver must move at least two blocks away and may not return to the same block until after midnight, even when another space opens (eugene-or.gov). The rule applies to the posted time-limited area, not automatically to every residential street.
Residential permit zones are restricted to eligible residents and require proof of residency, photo identification, and DMV-issued vehicle registration; Zone J provides the first two permits free per tax lot under its Arena Impact Mitigation Agreement (eugene-or.gov).
A Priced Parksy Driveway 0.7 Miles From Eugene Parking Pressure
Parksy lists a driveway space 0.7 miles from the busy downtown area at $20 an hour. The space suits a driver who needs a reserved place close to central Eugene and cannot rely on finding a free meter, garage space, or a legal unrestricted street spot.
The $20 hourly rate makes the driveway a paid fallback rather than a substitute for Eugene’s free evening, Sunday, or one-hour garage periods. It is most useful for a short visit when certainty matters more than circling for an open space, particularly when downtown demand is elevated by shopping, university activity, or a special event.
Eugene Parking Fines, Payment Deadlines, and Appeals
Eugene charges $50 for parking in front of a mailbox, on a sidewalk, crosswalk, or driveway, in a yellow or tow-away zone, or on the wrong side of the street. Parking in a bike lane or bus or taxi zone costs $125, while parking in a disability space costs $250 for a first offense and $500 for a subsequent offense (eugene-or.gov).
The City of Eugene gives drivers 30 calendar days from the ticket issue date to resolve a parking ticket; after 30 days, the ticket amount doubles and unpaid balances may go to a collection agency (eugene-or.gov). Eugene Municipal Court handles payment and appeals directly rather than Parking Services, and the parking-ticket payment service lists 1-877-464-1016 for assistance.
