Parking Near Allentown
Free parking around PPL Center and downtown Allentown
City Center Allentown’s Free Parking program covers streets, lots, and decks around PPL Center on weekdays from 5 p.m. to midnight and on weekends from 8 a.m. until midnight. The program gives drivers a free period near PPL Center during evening and weekend visits, including event trips (figlehighvalley.com).
Allentown’s metered parking is not enforced on Sundays unless there is a PPL event, making Sunday street parking free during non-event periods. Metered spaces remain paid during the applicable enforcement period on other days, rather than becoming free simply because they are on a public street (allentownparking.com).
Allentown meter hours, residential limits, and permit restrictions
Allentown parking meters are enforced Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, so a meter space can be used without payment outside those enforcement hours unless another posted restriction applies. Sunday enforcement is suspended unless a PPL event triggers enforcement (allentownparking.com).
Allentown residential permit parking restricts legal on-street spaces on affected streets to a one- to three-hour time limit, except in metered areas. The restriction belongs to residential permit streets, so a short free stay does not create all-day parking. Resident permit requirements also apply where posted, and a general driver cannot use a permit-only concession (ecode360.com).
Busy PPL Center periods and cheaper Allentown backup parking
PPL Center events change the normal Sunday meter treatment in Allentown, because Sunday metered parking is not enforced unless there is a PPL event.
Allentown Parking Authority decks charge $1 for the first hour, $2 for hours 2 through 6, and $29 as a daily maximum. The decks operate 24 hours a day and include a 15-minute free exit, providing a named low-cost alternative when free curb spaces have disappeared (allentownparking.com).
Allentown parking ticket amounts and payment options
Allentown’s parking violation penalty is $100 when the owner or operator pays within 10 days of the violation. The penalty rises to $150 when payment is made after 10 days but within 20 days. The City of Allentown code assigns those amounts to stopping, standing, and parking violations (ecode360.com).
The authority enforces City and state parking regulations through parking tickets, towing, and wheel booting, so an unpaid or unresolved violation can lead beyond the original fine (allentownparking.com).
