Parking Near Lafayette Park
Free visitor parking at Lafayette College in Lafayette Park
Lafayette College says parking is free for visitors in available spots at the college, including spaces that are marked or unmarked (lafayette.edu). The college says ticketing is not necessary for this free parking arrangement, so a driver can use an available visitor space without paying a parking fee.
The college’s visitor parking statement applies to Lafayette College parking rather than to every street or lot in Lafayette Park. It also identifies special events, including football games, as an exception to the ordinary free-parking arrangement. A driver heading to Lafayette College should therefore treat an available marked or unmarked college space as the named free option, while recognizing that event conditions can change the parking process.
The two-hour Lafayette College residential-permit zone
Lafayette College’s Public Safety page says vehicles parked within the City of Easton residential-permit zone are limited to two-hour parking unless a valid residential parking permit is displayed (lafayette.edu). The two-hour rule belongs to that residential-permit zone, not to every parking space around Lafayette Park.
The same Lafayette College notice identifies a 2:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. restriction for the zone. A valid residential parking permit changes the stated two-hour condition, while a vehicle without that permit remains subject to the zone’s posted restriction. This distinction matters when a driver leaves a car in a residential-permit area rather than using an available Lafayette College visitor space.
Lafayette College parking fines and enforcement categories
Lafayette College Public Safety lists a $50 fine for a vehicle with no valid parking permit, a $100 fine for parking in a handicapped space, and a $20 fine for not parking in a legal parking space (lafayette.edu). These amounts belong to Lafayette College’s published parking regulations, not to a general Pennsylvania street-parking schedule.
The published categories show that free parking does not remove the requirement to use a legal space or comply with permit and accessibility restrictions. The college’s parking rules are the authority for these listed campus penalties.
