It’s essential to plan ahead to avoid disruptions during busy moving days.
The Dunedin City Council offers various parking options and regulations that movers should be aware of. Vehicle Size Restrictions and Loading Zone Rules
Mornington has strict vehicle size restrictions that affect moving day planning. Trucks and vans over 3,500 kg must use designated loading zones on specific streets like Hillside Road and Macandrew Road. Key locations like the Byrd Memorial and Main South Line station have designated parking bays reserved primarily for smaller passenger vehicles. This means your moving truck may need alternative locations or dedicated truck stops. With ongoing development at the Southern Link Logistics Park in nearby Mosgiel, traffic patterns and parking availability continue to shift. Understanding these restrictions early saves time and money during your move.

Contact your local council office directly for permit forms and current pricing. Having this permit sorted before moving day removes uncertainty and lets you focus on settling in. Many residents wish they'd applied earlier, avoiding stress during their first weeks.
