Understanding Resident Parking Permits in Capilano
Capilano residents benefit from a well-organized resident parking permit system designed for local convenience. Annual permits are available to households in designated zones that have up to four dwelling units. Each household can obtain up to two permits. The first permit costs $75 CAD, while the second is priced at $175 CAD annually. These permits grant access to on-street bays where signage indicates permitted durations, which typically range from one to three hours.
The application process requires proof of residence, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement. Documentation must be dated within the last 30 days and submitted alongside valid vehicle registration. Most applications are processed by Halifax Regional Municipality within a few business days. While a permit allows you to park in designated zones, it does not guarantee an available spot during peak times. Understanding the specific parking signage in your neighborhood will help you maximize the permit's benefits.

It is valid for one calendar year starting from the issue date. You can apply online or visit Customer Service Centres located throughout the municipality for in-person assistance. Managing Multiple Permits and Renewal in Capilano
Households holding two permits need to manage both systematically throughout the year. The first permit costs $75 annually and covers one vehicle. The second permit, priced at $175, provides flexibility for multi-vehicle households. Each permit displays a unique identification number, which must be displayed prominently on your vehicle's windshield. Expired permits lose their validity immediately. Renewal of annual parking permits typically opens 30 days before expiration. Renewal applications are processed faster than initial applications. You can renew online or in person, and the process requires minimal updated documentation if your residency details haven't changed.
