Permit Fees and Processing Timeline
Resident permits typically cost around $100 CAD annually at Sheridan College, though rates vary depending on campus location and permit type. Virtual permits command a premium, usually $200 per academic year, reflecting the flexibility they offer. Processing times range from several days to one week, contingent on application volume during peak enrollment periods. Parking enforcement operates Monday through Friday, so weekend parking rules differ significantly from weekday restrictions.
Purchase of a permit doesn't guarantee a parking spot, especially during rush hours or special events. The Sheridan College Parking Services office at Trafalgar Campus handles in-person applications from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Understanding these timelines helps you plan ahead and avoid last-minute scrambles. Many residents find that budgeting for annual permits provides predictable costs compared to daily meter fees.

Required documents vary by permit type but typically include government-issued identification and proof of Sheridan affiliation or residence. The system guides you through each step with clear instructions. Once submitted, you'll receive confirmation and tracking information so you know exactly when your permit arrives. For those preferring personal assistance, the Parking Office staff remain available to answer questions. This combination of digital convenience and human support makes parking permit applications accessible to everyone, regardless of technical comfort level.
Visitor Vouchers and Tradesperson Access
Visitor parking vouchers provide flexible, short-stay options perfect for guests attending Sheridan events like the annual convocation ceremonies held June 8-11. Guest passes grant extended access to designated lots across the college's multiple campuses. For those welcoming service providers, tradesperson day permits offer all-day lot access, removing parking stress from contractors working on building maintenance or repairs throughout Sheridan neighborhoods.
These temporary permits ensure your guests and service providers focus on their visit rather than hunting for available spaces. Vouchers cost less than extended permits, making them economical for occasional visitors. The Davis Campus in Brampton and Trafalgar Campus in Oakville both honor these guest passes seamlessly. For complete details on visitor options, check residential parking permit guides that cover guest accommodations. Sheridan's flexible permit structure accommodates everyone from daily commuters to one-time visitors.
Private Parking as a Sheridan Alternative
Private driveway rentals through peer-to-peer platforms offer compelling alternatives to traditional council permits. Spaces near Sheridan College start as low as $12 daily: a dramatic savings compared to standard permit fees of $100 annually or daily meter rates reaching $45. Many Oakville residents list their driveways, creating a competitive marketplace that drives prices down. You gain guaranteed spot access without the uncertainty of council lots where available parking spots vanish during peak hours.
Whether attending classes at Trafalgar or visiting the Hazel McCallion Campus, peer-to-peer parking eliminates traditional wait times and bureaucratic delays. Your vehicle enjoys enhanced security through private property access. The convenience means less stress about your commute and more focus on studies or work. Explore this flexible model alongside official Sheridan options. Many find the combination of affordability, reliability, and flexibility makes private parking the smarter choice for their situation.
