The processing timeline typically ranges from a few days to two weeks, depending on permit type and application volume. Online submissions move faster than in-person visits, though both methods are equally valid. Documentation Needed and Common Mistakes to Avoid
Successful applications require accurate documentation from the start. Residents need current proof of address: a utility bill, lease agreement, or mortgage statement dated within the last 60 days. Business applicants must provide company registration, tax ID, and proof of Fort Wayne location. Vehicle owners should have registration papers ready. Missing or expired documents delay processing significantly, so gather everything before submitting.
Common application mistakes include providing outdated address proof, submitting incorrect vehicle information, and missing required signatures. Double-check your vehicle identification number matches your registration exactly. Ensure your address matches across all documents. Some applicants forget to indicate whether they need multiple permits for household vehicles: clarify this upfront. The city's parking staff handles corrections, but resubmissions extend processing time unnecessarily. Taking extra minutes for accuracy prevents frustration.
