Parking Permits in Midland, TX: Zones, Costs & Renewals

Midland’s permit needs differ between a household near Midland Tower, a contractor working close to UP Toyah Subdivision, and a visitor attending an event near The Yucca Theatre. The city had 132,524 residents at the 2020 census and serves as the county seat of Midland County, so permit demand reflects both established neighbourhoods and the Permian Basin’s oil and natural-gas workforce. A resident permit generally supports people parking near their home, while a business permit can help companies manage employee or customer vehicle access around offices such as Midland National Bank. Trade permits are intended for contractors, maintenance teams and other service vehicles that need practical access to a property rather than long-stay commuter parking. That distinction matters near Midland Memorial Hospital, 1,863 metres away, where loading, service access and short visits must not obstruct emergency or operational areas. Visitor parking permits can cover guests staying at a residence, although applicants should confirm whether the city limits duration, vehicle numbers or eligible streets before relying on one. Event permits may be relevant when crowds gather around The Yucca Theatre, Midland Tower or central commercial premises, but they should not be confused with construction authorisations. Midland’s official PermitMidland system covers building, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, solar and pool applications, and construction work must begin within 180 days of issue. Residents comparing household eligibility can also consult this residential permit guide before submitting a request.

How to Apply for Midland Car-Space Permits

Midland’s online workflow depends on the permit category and the authority issuing it. For city development and construction matters, applicants create an account through PermitMidland portal, upload documents, pay invoices, monitor status, and respond to resubmittals. The city does not publish a universal parking-permit turnaround or a single fee in the supplied information, so applicants should confirm the current charge and processing estimate with the relevant Midland office before planning work near Midland National Bank or Midland Tower. College parking follows a separate in-person process. Midland College requires students, faculty and staff to register vehicles with the MC Police Department in the Scharbauer Student Center; the first permit carries no additional charge, is non-transferable, and must be displayed inside the lower-right windshield. Campus rules set speeds at 20 mph on campus streets and 10 mph in lots, while the Administration lot between the Scharbauer Student Center and Pevehouse Administration Building is reserved for administration personnel and visitors except during registration. Further details are set out in the college’s campus parking rules.
