You don't know where your vehicle went or how to retrieve it. The good news? You have rights. Towing operators must obtain written consent before towing your car, and they're required to provide documentation. If something feels off, you can report violations directly to the Toronto Police Service towing division.
Finding and Recovering Your Towed Vehicle
If your car disappears from Moore Park, act fast. Impound yards handling vehicles from this neighbourhood operate from 8 AM to 8 PM, though hours vary by location. Most towing operations fall under city jurisdiction, so contacting Toronto Police Service is your first smart move. They'll direct you to the correct impound facility, usually within a short drive from Moore Park itself.

Act quickly to minimize storage accumulation.
Most operators accept cash, debit, and credit cards, though preferences vary. Before choosing a tow company, confirm their payment methods and total cost breakdown. Photographs, witness statements, and written communication all strengthen your position if you need to dispute charges later. The Ontario government provides detailed information about towing rights and fee regulations.
Challenging Wrongful Tows and Protecting Your Rights
Not every tow is legal. Ontario law requires explicit consent before operators tow your vehicle, unless police initiate it. If your car was towed without authorization, you can dispute the fees. Gather evidence immediately: photos of parking signs, witness contact details, timestamps, anything supporting your case. Many wrongful tows happen when signage is unclear or operators cut corners.
Start by contacting the towing company directly with your documentation. If they refuse to cooperate, escalate to the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services. Disputed towing charges can be recovered through formal complaints. Keep all paperwork organized: receipts, correspondence, consent forms. Document their failure to provide required documentation before towing. Your diligence transforms a frustrating situation into a winnable dispute. Review Ontario's official guidance on disputing towing fees for step-by-step procedures specific to your case.
