Payment Methods and Release Procedures

Understanding Why Vehicles Get Towed in Orchard
Vehicles in Orchard get towed for specific, enforceable reasons. Parking in a no-parking zone during rush hours (typically 7–9 AM and 4–6 PM on weekdays) triggers immediate removal, especially on Bloor Street and near Square One Shopping Centre. Hydrant obstructions, fire route violations, and disabled parking spot misuse also result in swift towing. Street cleaning operations sometimes catch unsuspecting drivers. Always check posted signage before leaving your car.
Unpaid parking tickets can also lead to vehicle immobilization and eventual towing. The Peel Regional Police and local bylaw enforcement prioritize clearways and high-traffic corridors. Parking illegally near schools, hospitals, and municipal buildings carries stricter enforcement. If your car vanishes from what you thought was a legal spot, misconceptions about signage are often the culprit. Take photos of parking signs before leaving your vehicle. This documentation proves invaluable if you later dispute the tow.
Disputing a Wrongful Tow and Your Rights
Believe your vehicle was towed unfairly? You have legal recourse. First, document everything: the exact location, time of removal, and all visible signage. Photograph parking restrictions, missing or unclear signs, and your vehicle's placement relative to any boundaries. Contact the towing company and Peel Regional Police within 48 hours. Most jurisdictions require clear, legible signage: if signs were obscured, faded, or absent, you may have grounds for a dispute.
Formal complaint procedures involve filing a claim with the towing operator and the police service. Compensation eligibility depends on proving regulatory violations, such as inadequate notice periods or improper signage. Keep receipts, photographs, and written correspondence. For comprehensive guidance on filing disputes and understanding your rights, consult the complete guide to unclaimed vehicles, which outlines provincial protections. If the tow was genuinely improper, documented evidence often results in fee reductions or full refunds. Don't assume you're powerless: challenge questionable tows promptly and professionally.
