Daily storage charges accumulate at around $30 per day, creating substantial costs if your car sits in the lot over a weekend. If your car is towed Friday and retrieved Monday, you're looking at an extra $60 just for storage, before any additional penalties or administrative charges apply.
Most impound facilities accept multiple payment methods, including cash, credit cards, and debit cards, making the recovery process more accessible. However, these towing charges can total $300 or more depending on how long your vehicle remains impounded. Payment options exist to help vehicle owners recover their cars promptly, but understanding the full cost upfront prevents sticker shock at the lot. For detailed information about current fees and what's included, contact the Impounded Vehicles Section at Ottawa Police Service directly. They can clarify whether additional administrative or processing fees apply to your specific situation.
Challenging Wrongful Towing in Somerset
Vehicle owners in Somerset have legal rights when it comes to disputing towing decisions. If you believe your car was towed without valid justification, you have the right to file a formal appeal. This process typically starts with contacting the towing company directly to explain your circumstances, followed by submitting written documentation supporting your position. Evidence such as photographs showing your vehicle parked legally, timestamped images, or credible witness statements can significantly strengthen your claim against the towing operator.
Compensation for wrongful towing is achievable if the impound was indeed unlawful or procedurally flawed. You may be eligible for reimbursement of all fees incurred, including storage charges and release fees. Understanding local parking regulations and your consumer rights empowers you throughout this dispute process. Research what Canada's motoring associations recommend about challenging tows, and consider consulting the Somerset parking regulations guide for detailed bylaws. Documentation and persistence often resolve these matters favorably for vehicle owners who can demonstrate they parked legally.

Commuters who book private parking spots ahead of time gain peace of mind that extends far beyond simple cost savings. It's about reclaiming time and reducing stress. Consider your lifestyle: Are you spending $300 recovering a towed car monthly, or investing in guaranteed spaces that cost a fraction of that?
