Understanding Your Legal Rights Against Wrongful Tows
Ontario law protects you against wrongful towing situations. If your vehicle was towed without proper consent or valid reason, you have the right to challenge the towing company's actions and potentially claim compensation. Towing operators must provide you with a list of your rights and their fee schedules before removal occurs, visibly posted at their facilities and online. If consent wasn't obtained, you cannot legally be charged for the tow or storage.
Document everything if you believe an illegal tow occurred. Take photographs of signage, gather relevant paperwork, and record all communications with the towing company. File complaints through the appropriate Ontario channels if necessary. For detailed guidance on your protections, consult the Ontario government's towing rights guide. Understanding these protections empowers you and holds operators accountable within your community.

Streetsville's downtown areas, particularly Queen Street and Main Street corridors, see strict parking enforcement that catches even careful drivers. The emotional relief of knowing your vehicle is safely parked, and where, cannot be overstated.
