In situations where you parked legally, yet your car was towed, you shouldn't have to pay the towing fee. It's your right to challenge this.
It's advisable to keep records of your parking, including photographs of any relevant signage that indicates you parked legally. If you have evidence of proper compliance with parking regulations, this can strongly support your case when disputing charges. If your vehicle was moved for safety reasons rather than parking violations, it typically won't incur a towing fee, so always check with the local police first to confirm the status of your vehicle. For detailed guidance on the formal recovery and dispute process, consult the Auckland Transport towed vehicle recovery procedures. Understanding these steps can empower you to take action quickly and efficiently.
