What Are Your Rights If Wrongfully Towed in Long Beach?
Being wrongfully towed can be frustrating, but Long Beach has established procedures to address such disputes. If you believe your vehicle was improperly towed, the first step is to contact the towing company to request a formal review of the circumstances. In many cases, the towing service must provide valid justification for the tow, such as parking in a clearly marked no-parking zone or on private property. Should you not receive a satisfactory response, your next avenue is to file a complaint with the Long Beach Police Department or the city's Municipal Court, which handles parking violation appeals.
In instances where you successfully prove wrongful towing, you may be eligible for compensation covering all recovery expenses and associated costs. The city's guidelines encourage filing a claim against the towing company for incurred charges, including storage and impound fees. It's important to document all communications and retain receipts for any expenses related to the recovery of your vehicle. Photography of parking signs and location details strengthens your case if you proceed with an appeal or dispute through the appropriate municipal channels.
