However, it's important to note that debit or credit cards must be in the name of the individual retrieving the vehicle, so bring proper identification. To avoid further complications, ensure you have all necessary documentation such as your valid driver's license and vehicle registration in your possession. Some impound facilities may also require proof of insurance. The financial impact of a tow can be significant, so understanding the complete fee structure helps you plan accordingly and avoid surprises at the impound window.
Avoiding Wrongful Towing and Understanding Your Rights

First, gather evidence such as photographs of your parked vehicle and any surrounding signs, or lack thereof. This will help substantiate your case against wrongful towing claims. You can dispute the towing by contacting the appropriate agency and providing your evidence. Document the exact location, time, and date of the incident, as this information is crucial for your appeal.
In cases where you can prove wrongful towing, you may be entitled to file a compensation claim against the city or private towing operator. Keep in mind that the process can be lengthy, but persistence pays off. It's wise to document all communications and responses from the agencies involved, including emails and phone call logs. Make sure to know your rights when it comes to vehicle recovery claims to ensure you are treated fairly throughout the dispute process.
