Understanding Towing Fees and Payment Options
When your vehicle is towed in Queens, understanding the associated costs is crucial for budgeting. For a regular tow, you'll face a fee of $185. If you have a heavy-duty vehicle, that fee jumps to $370, reflecting the additional resources required. On top of this, there's a daily storage charge of $20 for each overnight stay at the Tow Pound facility. For example, if your vehicle remains impounded for three nights, you would owe $60 in storage fees alone, bringing your total to $245. Therefore, retrieving your car promptly saves you from incurring mounting additional costs that compound daily.
Accepted payment methods include cash, certified checks, and debit or credit cards, as long as they bear your name and match your identification documents. It's crucial to note that you cannot pay outstanding parking violation tickets directly at the tow pound itself. Instead, you must settle any judgments with the Parking Violations Bureau beforehand or simultaneously during the retrieval process. Payment must cover both the towing charge and any accumulated storage fees. Being prepared with proper payment documents and identification accelerates the vehicle release significantly.
