Understanding Tsawwassen's Disability Parking Permit System
In Tsawwassen, residents and visitors with mobility challenges can access the Parking Permit Program for People with Disabilities, managed by SPARC BC since 1984. This initiative ensures equal access to designated parking spots near essential amenities like Tsawwassen Mills on Canoe Pass Way and the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. Two permit types are available: the Permanent Parking Permit (valid three years) and the Temporary Parking Permit (one month to one year). Displaying your permit on the rearview mirror is mandatory. Fines for non-compliance reach $200.
Applicants must meet specific medical criteria to qualify. You may require extra space due to wheelchair use, crutches, or other mobility aids. A General Practitioner assessment confirming your limitations is essential, even for conditions not immediately visible. SPARC BC has advocated for disability rights since 1969, ensuring the program remains responsive to community needs. Over 100,000 British Columbians currently benefit from this vital service.

Once you have your medical assessment, download the application forms from SPARC BC parking permits and submit them along with your documentation.
The application process typically takes 2–3 weeks for review and approval. SPARC BC staff assess each application carefully to ensure eligibility.
