Parking Near Kennington
Free Parking Options Around Kennington Park Estate
Kennington has very limited general free parking, so the clearest no-charge options are tied to eligibility rather than open public bays. Kennington Park Estate provides free first permits for Blue Badge holders when the vehicle is registered at the home address, and free first permits for residents who are NHS staff, police staff, fire brigade staff, qualified teachers or members of the British Armed Forces (kenningtonparkestateresidents.org.uk). Those permits are for qualifying residents, not a free option for every visitor.
Kennington Park Estate also provides free motorbike parking, although motorbikes can be ticketed if they are parked illegally. Visitor permits are available for visitors, while carers can use passes accessed through the estate’s parking app. These arrangements apply to the estate’s private parking system, rather than creating unrestricted free parking on Kennington’s public roads. A driver without the relevant permit should not treat an estate bay as free public parking.
What to Use When Kennington’s Free Spaces Are Unavailable
Bolton Crescent in Oval is identified as the closest free parking near Kennington Park, making it the named no-charge fallback when a suitable space is available (spotangels.com). The estate charges £200 per year for second cars and cars that are not ULEZ compliant. These are resident-permit alternatives rather than short-stay public parking, and they suit eligible households that regularly need a vehicle near their home.

Tickets and Enforcement at Kennington Park Estate
Kennington Park Estate tickets motorbikes when they are not parked legally, despite providing free motorbike parking (kenningtonparkestateresidents.org.uk).
