Managing Parking During Peak Events
Zilker experiences parking chaos during major events: the Austin City Limits Music Festival draws thousands of visitors, overwhelming nearby streets and lots. Permit holders enjoy reserved on-street priority, while non-permit holders scramble for expensive city lots or distant garage spaces. The Special Events Parking Program offers temporary solutions when regular on-street spots disappear. Additional paid lots activate around Zilker Metropolitan Park during festivals, concerts, and holiday celebrations like the Trail of Lights.
