An Overview of the Airport
Perth Airport (PER) is a vital transportation hub serving Western Australia and beyond. Located about 12 miles (19.4 kilometres) east of Perth's city centre in the suburb of Redcliffe, it handles both domestic and international flights. The airport has four main terminals: T1, T2, T3, and T4, catering to various airlines and destinations. According to recent data, Perth Airport handled over 16.1 million passengers in 2024, showcasing its significance in Australia's aviation landscape. The airport's rich history dates back to 1942 when it was initially built as a Royal Australian Air Force base. Today, it stands as a modern facility with state-of-the-art amenities and services, connecting Western Australia to the rest of the country and the world. Perth Airport's strategic location makes it an essential gateway for business travellers, tourists, and the thriving resources sector in Western Australia.

Parking Options at the Airport
Perth Airport offers a range of parking options to suit different needs and budgets. For those embarking on short trips or picking up passengers, the Short-Term car parks are conveniently located within a 2-3 minute walk from the terminals. These parking spaces are ideal for stays up to 12 days. If you're planning a longer trip, the Long-Term car parks provide a more economical option, with a free shuttle bus service running every 10 minutes, 24/7. For business travellers or those seeking extra convenience, the Fast Track parking at T3 and T4 offers covered bays just a minute's walk from the terminal. Additionally, the Regional Terminals parking caters to those catching private flights to other regional airports. As Daniel Battaglia, author of Parksy: Making Life Easier, notes: "The average rate you can get for a parking spot is around AUS $400 a month, or AUS $4,000 a year, with some variation depending on your location." This insight highlights the potential savings of choosing the right parking option for your needs.
Getting to and From the Airport
Accessing Perth Airport is convenient through various transportation options. If you're driving, the airport is easily reachable via major roads such as Tonkin Highway, Great Eastern Highway Bypass, and Roe Highway. For those preferring public transport, Transperth operates regular bus services to the airport. The 380 bus runs every 30 minutes from Esplanade Busport in the city centre, while routes 37, 39, and 40 connect surrounding areas to T3 and T4. Taxis and ride-sharing services are also readily available, with designated pick-up and drop-off zones at each terminal. For a more budget-friendly option, consider using off-site parking facilities near the airport, which often offer competitive rates and shuttle services to the terminals. It's worth noting that Perth Airport is actively working on improving accessibility, with plans for a future rail link to further enhance connectivity with the city centre.
