On average, you can expect to pay around $1.25 per hour for premium curbside parking along major streets like Jackson Avenue and North Lamar. The city's downtown core operates metered spaces where rates start at $0.75 for one hour, with the first 12 minutes costing just $0.25 for quick errands. This tiered pricing makes it essential to understand where you're parking and what rates apply.
Most parking meters in downtown Oxford now accept contactless payment methods, enhancing convenience for visitors and residents alike. Whether you're heading to the University of Mississippi or browsing shops around the Oxford Square, knowing the meter tariffs helps you avoid unnecessary fines. The city's transparent pricing system ensures you can plan your expenses without worrying about hidden charges or surprise fees when you return to your vehicle.
Long-Term and Daily Parking Options
For those on a tight budget, long-term parking lots provide more economical solutions with rates as low as $0.75 per hour. If you're planning to park for an entire day, a daily maximum of $10 could apply in certain locations, making it a smart choice for daily commuters. The OPC/Water Tower lot and select floors of the parking garage offer free parking options, which can significantly reduce expenses for regular visitors to downtown Oxford.
Monthly permits represent an excellent option for frequent visitors, offering substantial savings compared to hourly or daily rates. With on-street parking meter rates charging up to $1.25 per hour, visitors may be surprised by cumulative costs during busy periods.
